Pastels/Velour /Ceramics

I am a self-taught artist and I was born and raised on Chicago's south side then years nestled in the hillsides of Topanga canyon. My newly located studio is now on the edge of the east village arts district, in the Alamitos Beach neighborhood of Long Beach.

I paint pastel paintings on a velour board, my inspiration: Iconic portraiture, animal instinct, endangered species, local sea creatures and Dias de los Muertos, these are a few of the topics I seek to capture with my unique signature style.  I find something that creatively captures me, something between caricature and pure whimsy, I then combine these images on my velour background to create images far from the mundane depiction of reality and frame this in recycled custom ceramics frames.
