I am a painter, working primarily in acrylic, oil and watercolor, In 2001 I had followed an extended period working as a contemporary realest painter, but the Postmodern concepts in contemporary art opened up new possibilities. My paintings are currently acrylic and mixed media with some very thick impasto, while others are smooth and flat with a high gloss finish. This is intended to slightly separate the viewer from the image as if looking through glass or water which also enhances the depth, translucence and reflective quality of the paint. I have chosen to combine abstract and surreal components in an attempt to balance the spontaneous with the deliberate, with the former typically dominant.  I have been influenced by more current approaches in painting, in particular the mixing of various styles or methods in the same work or creating dramatic changes from painting to painting in the same group.
