Open Call forArtwork

Dear Friends and Artists, On April 18th 2026, Greenly Art Space will be hosting the opening reception for “Cultivating Compassion” our annual fundraiser. On behalf of Greenly Art Space and the exhibition curator Kimberly Hocking (Director of Greenly Art Space) we invite you to submit your work for consideration for this show.

From the Curator:

I truly believe that compassion is an idea and a practice that can carry us through these difficult times. The image I have chosen for the idea of cultivating compassion was created during a retreat at a local monastery. Chronic health issues have been my companion these last years and at the retreat we explored the idea of the ways in which we uphold and strengthen each other as individuals walking the path of suffering. Angels of all colors surround an individual with pain allowing for growth and connectedness symbolized by the tree.

There are many different sources of inspiration for this show. The losses in my own life and my recent health struggles have continued to keep my heart open and are often a source of inspiration in my creations. Your own work may explore the ways you cultivate compassion in yourself through reflection, beauty, and nature. Another source of inspiration may be trials you have been through. Caring for others whether they are children or friends can also impact the artwork that you create. We are excited to share a wide range of images and stories that speak to compassion in this exhibition.

Deadline for submission March 28th.

Each artist can submit up to five images to Kimhocking@aol.com, Please put “Cultivating Compassion” in the subject line of your e-mail.

Notifications of decision sent April 4th.

Art drop off will be April 11th and 12th (*new location in Downtown San Pedro)- More details regarding drop off, hanging, etc. will be given to artists who are accepted to the show.  Show will be in Downtown San Pedro.
