call for artists

Dear Friends and Artists, 

 

April 2016, we will be hosting the opening reception for “Into the Forest,” our annual fundraiser. We invite you to submit your work for consideration for this show.

 

Into the Forest will explore the many aspects of trees in our environment. The forest has inspired poets and artists throughout the centuries to create beautiful works of art.  Leaves, roots, trunks, birds, nests, and many other aspects of the forest come to mind.  We seek artistic interpretations of all kinds that explore the concept of the forest. This can include realistic as well as abstract works which evoke a feeling of the mystery and wonder of trees. Let your creativity and imagination inspire the work you create! All mediums will be considered including short film.

                 

 

Deadline for submission:  Saturday, March 13th, 2016

 

Art Requirements

 

Submit 1-2 works of art. We want to accommodate as many artists as possible.

For completed work reflecting the theme, send jpeg images with:

 

  • Title

  • Medium

  • Price

  • Dimensions

  • Contact information

  • Brief info about the work and why you think it will be a good fit with the show

 

For work in progress or new work reflecting the theme, send:

SHOW DETAILS & OPENING RECEPTION

Date TBD: April

Open to the public

$10 admission fee (admission fee waived for each accepted artist and one guest)

Reception will include:  art show, live music, appetizers, wine/beer will be available for a donation fee 

 

Greenly Art Space will be partnering with a local non-profit to raise awareness and funding through this event. Our current plan is to work with Long Beach’s local “Nature Center” to raise funds for this local treasure.

 

SHOW ACCEPTANCE/ART SALES

 

If you are selected to participate in the show, we require a nominal hanging fee of $20 per piece, due at time of art drop off. Greenly Art Space will be given a 30% commission on any artwork sold throughout the show run. For any artwork sold, the hanging fee will be credited as part of the commission.  All participating artists will need to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Greenly Art Space which will be forwarded to you upon your acceptance in this show.

 

More details regarding drop off, hanging, etc. will be given to artists who are accepted to the show.

 

SHOW PROMOTION

 

Once all artists are confirmed, further details about the reception/show will be given. We will be creating promotional materials for social media, local news outlets, local online social calendars, and also a printed promotional card which will be placed in various community locations throughout Signal Hill and Long Beach. We will make all of these communications available to the artist as soon as they are ready.  We will also be relying on our artist word-of-mouth promotion and will also provide you with an electronic version of our promo card that you may post and/or email to your family, friends, and colleagues.
